The European Green Vehicles Initiative Association is an international non-profit making association aimed at promoting and facilitating pre-competitive research on road transport systems within the European Research Area. It focuses on technologies and the process chain, with the goal of improving energy efficiency.
Created in 2013 with the goal to engage in the contractual public-private partnership with the European Commission, the legal entity currently regroups 86 members from the industry and research sectors, and acts as the representative of the private side in the EGVI PPP.
The Association is chaired by Stephan Neugebauer from BMW, also Chairman of ERTRAC – the European Technology Platform for Road Transport.
The Association formalises the principles of work amongst the interested members of the private side in the EGVI PPP, with the view to developing research priorities, disseminating information and promoting the public-private partnership and its collaborative cooperation.
Using the wide stakeholders’ base of the European Technology Platforms ERTRAC, EPoSS and Smart Grids, it organises the tasks of delivering viable research topics recommendations across the community and collaborates with the European Commission services for the implementation of European framework programmes on research, technological development along the value chain, and demonstration.
In addition, it contributes to monitoring program progress and evaluating the efficiency of the activities, as well as building communication channels with the European Member States, and the research community across Europe.
